Day 3 – Baie Comeau
The drive to Baie Comeau was a thrilling, twisty, elevation change heavy adventure – Baie (“Bay”), and there were a dozen of them meant climbing the hills separating them before descending down to where the small fishing villages dot the St Lawrence going up from Quebec City.
Lots of confidence gained in the turns, at speed and while climbing and descending, so I was happy. As an added bonus, it threatened to rain, but never rained!
There’s a free ferry included (The road would have been a massive detour or a slightly less massive bridge to build I guess), which was is a nice change from hammering out the miles on the motorcycle.
Baie Comeau is a cute little town. Nice houses, some interesting businesses and even an ice cream stand. I walked downtown (2.3km downhill) to eat dinner and wander around a bit and take some pictures. The Insta 360 camera I have won’t do the Bullet Time thing or else I would have had one of those ready.
I did see the historical plaque for Mr Mulroney, who was born in Baie Comeau. Almost forgot to mention, I found the blue cable locks and managed to reconstruct my thought process for putting them where I found them
